The tattoo was a small pink heart that enclosed the initials of a past relationship of Amanda’s. When Amanda finally revealed this symbol of her past, Lucas realized that she would never be completely over the man whose initials were forever printed on her pale skin. However, her revelation to him showed that she was ready to move forward in their relationship with complete honesty and trust. This honesty and trust that Amanda bestowed in Lucas resulted in him suffering from the guilt of the secret he was hiding from her. Would she feel betrayed? Would she end their relationship that was progressing and maturing? She believed he had gone hunting with his brother but really he had quite a trip to Las Vegas with the boys.

The tattoo, obviously a recent addition to her body, was located on her lower left hip, just peering out from under her faded blue jeans. A bumble bee, with intense details inscribed within the wings. Designs so detailed, he wondered how long this "work of art" took to be completed. Though he wondered, he would never ask Amanda, whom had been in love with him for two years now. Dan saw his initials inscribed in the wings of the butterfly. His stomach dropped, he worked hard to conceal his expression, he could not allow Amanda to notice that he had spotted the bumble bee. He yearned to tell Amanda of his trip to the Cayman Islands, of the girl he met, the girl he brought back home with him, the girl he loved. How would he tell this to Amanda, who recently inscribed her initials permanently on her body? He couldn't tell her, he couldn't bare to tell the truth. Dan was no man, he had no feelings, no respect for others, "Leave the Pieces" by The Wreckers could be his theme song. Dan gave Amanda a hug, a short, quick squeeze, then told her they could no longer see each other, though there was no reason why. He walked away.
ReplyDeleteAmanda's tattoo reminded her of her past, a past she wished to hide and never reveal again. This tattoo reminisced on a certain night in New Orleans that truly affected her life. This tattoo was a well known sign left on victims who had been attacked by a wanted rapist. Although she does not remember the night, she assumes she was drugged, raped, then taken to a tattoo parlor and left with the mark. When she would awake this mark would forever remind her of this horrible night. She would forever have the tattoo engraved on her neck.

Cullen had just arrived at the airport. He had been gone for 3 months on his trip backpacking through Europe. He could not wait to get back and see his girlfriend Amanda and tell her about all his adventures he had in the past few months. He saw her standing at the end of the terminal with a sad, guilty expression on her face. As he approached her, the expression did not change but he embraced her anyway. As they were hugging, he noticed something on her back that had not been there 3 months ago. He could not believe what he saw.
ReplyDeleteA ferris wheel, never had he ever seen such an intricately drawn tattoo on an elbow. He had never noticed the tattoo before because of its odd placement, but knew it must have meant something. The ferris wheel was purple with colorful gondolas attached to the outer edges. He asked about the origin of her tattoo, and she shyly revealed that she got it after an accident when she was seven. Amanda fell off a ferris wheel at a carnival with her family and had a scar that could not be covered. The scar bothered her for most of her life, so when she turned eighteen, she got a ferris wheel tattoo on top of it in remembrance of the incident. He knew at that point he could never tell her that he was in a family business of carnival owners and about the trip he took to the newest carnival grounds in New Zealand.

Amanda looked at William. He had been staring at her tattoo ever since he got back from his trip to Dubai. She could tell he wanted to ask about it. Amanda treated herself to a tattoo on her left wrist while William was away. It was the word ‘clarity’ inscribed beautifully in Arabic. “What’s that on your wrist dear?” William finally said. “Oh this? It’s just something I have wanted for quite a while now” she replied. Amanda could not tell whether William was upset or not. She knew that he had plenty of tattoos. Each one told a story. Her favorite one was the one that went down the side of his rib cage that read ‘determination’ in Arabic. William looked at her and smiled, “It’s beautiful.”

ReplyDeleteAll in all, the tattoo of the lone child no longer had a heartbeat beneath it for the same reason it was created. Amanda lay still in the flowing grass fields, charles along side. The low rumble of the car ignition still on is the only sound piercing the nights silence. The two hooded creatures silently swept away into the darkness with no regret. As the light came around again all that was left in place of the young couple were two outlines in dust from where their bodies had covered the ground from the wet morning mist.
Excellent entries! All of you seem to zero in on tone and how it plays a huge role in how the characters handle the tattoo issue. Well done, and very creative!

The tattoo, which consisted of a tramp stamp on her lower back was quite the art. She was speechless when her mom saw it. The shock that went through her moms body was as if she had been in an insane asylum. She then asked amanda why she got that. Amanda was quivering with fear when she said "im a lesbian". Her mom turned pale. Silence. They did not talk again.
ReplyDeleteAfter being exiled, the tattoo symbolized her strength. It showed her that her past is in her past, but will always be a part of her. Never again will she trust the people around her the same. Both of us have learned our lesson and plan on moving forward. Accept your responsibilities and consequences, but do not let them control you.

He had liked her so much up until that point. his desire to be with her were boundless. nothing could change the way he felt about her; or so he thought. the moment she showed him her tattoo his jaw dropped. he couldnt believe his eyes. the number code tattooed on the inside of her left wrist left him speechless. she had just let him know she was in the holocaust. the boy was filled with so many mixed emotions. after letting everything sink in, he decided his feelings for her needed to be calmed down. he decided he was going to take things slower, and really decide to get to know her.
ReplyDeleteChris was shocked; he couldn’t believe she had gotten his name, “CHRIS,” permanently marked in big, bold black letters on the inside of her once pure wrist. The memories of his trip to Israel all suddenly disappeared, as if they were never there. His palms began to sweat and his face went blank; he was trying to keep his composure; but his overwhelming shock engulfed his composure, almost like a snake engulfing its small prey. He wanted to like her tattoo, tell her it was nice, and take a closer look. She could tell by his now pale face that something was wrong. “If you have a tattoo we can’t get married next to each other in a Jewish cemetery.” He slowly crept his right knee towards the dirty airport floor, “Will you marry me?”
